Over £500 raised for Hospicecare

The coffee morning held on Saturday 13th April at the village hall in aid of Hospiscare was a resounding success raising a total amount of £583.15.

Amongst the bacon baps, numerous cakes, tea & coffee consumed, a draw was held along with guess the number of Easter Eggs in the jar, there were 118 if you are interested (how did your guess fair?), the winner was Rose Hammett from Christow who guessed 119 ! (118 that’s a lot of Easter Eggs to eat -good luck).

Many thanks to all those who donated cakes, bacon, other supplies, Easter Eggs & draw prizes & for you all for supporting the coffee morning on the day to make this inaugural event a success.

Whilst enjoying our coffee we had the pleasure of meeting Bethany who was selling jewellery to raise money for a charity trip to Ecuador in 2020 with Camps International.

The trip will be for a month helping local communities in Ecuador. Bethany and her school friends from Isca Academy will be meeting and helping children in the area, working on building projects and also going to areas where de-forestation has taken place. They will be planting new trees in those areas. They also get to have some time learning to scuba dive.. so it’s not all work!

Bethany has to raise the money for the trip herself and will be holding a few events to help raise this. So keep an eye out for her as she would appreciate your support.

We hope to see you all (and Bethany) to next year’s Hospicecare Coffee Morning which will be on the 25h April 2020.
