Church Bells at Risk

The bells at Holcombe Burnell church have been inspected professionally and corrosion has been found in the subframe that takes the weight of the bells. The quote for the repair is £15,000 and involves moving bells 4 and 5 to enable access to the affected area, the corroded section removed and a new section fitted. If this work is not done ringing off the bells will eventually have to cease as the stability of the church tower will be at risk.

Grants are being applied for but these won’t cover the total cost so we will be holding fundraising events over the next 12 months. The first of these will be an open morning between 10:30 and 12:30 on Saturday 4th March in the church when there will be an opportunity to go up the tower and see the bells and the fantastic view from the top. Refreshments will be available for a donation.

In the meantime if you want to make a donation please contact Jane on 811246 or Cynthia on 811302.
