Our village has a large dog owning community and for some time we have lacked a bin to dispose of dog waste. The Parish Council and the Village Hall Committee have jointly funded a new bin which has been installed just outside the village hall by the noticeboard. Please use this new village amenity instead of the bins directly outside the village hall.
Come to Holcombe Burnell church in Longdown on Friday 18th October at 7.30pm to enjoy a small acoustic concert in a beautiful setting.
With strong West Country roots, Nick Wyke & Becki Driscoll are stunning fiddle players and composers whose combined skills and musicianship forge a joyful collision of English traditional music and contemporary bowed strings.
Their unique sound blends melodic, emotive violin and viola with driving fiddle chords and powerful vocals interspersed with anecdotes of adventures and stories from the road.
Tickets are £10 and children are free – includes refreshments. Please call 01392 811246 or 01392 811816 to book tickets. For more information about Nick and Becki please take a look at their website www.englishfiddle.com.
As you may be aware a defibrillator has been installed outside the front door of the Village Hall and the South West Ambulance Service will be delivering training on how to use it. This will cover what to do from making the 999 call, through to using the defibrillator during a cardiac arrest incident.
It is an AED type defibrillator as installed at other parishes including Tedburn St Mary, Whitestone and Ide. Using the defibrillator to restart the heart after a heart attack, during what is sometimes called the golden half hour can save lives, so it is a really worthwhile training session.
All are welcome – no matter where you live.
On Saturday 14th September between 10.30am and 12.30pm the Village Hall will host a Coffee Morning in aid of MIND – the mental health charity. Offers of help with draw prizes, Tombola and cake gratefully received. For more information please contact Chloe Wilson on 07981162883 or email@example.com.

In April, Teignbridge District Council voted unanimously to declare a Climate Emergency for a Carbon Neutral Teignbridge by 2025. As a result a public meeting is being held on Thursday 4th July 7pm-9pm, Coombeshead Academy Theatre, Newton Abbot, TQ12 1PT.
An action group representing different environmental organisations in Teignbridge have met up with TDC. We want to see how best the wider community can get involved in supporting the Council. This can range from directly feeding into their plans, to taking local or individual action on addressing the Climate Emergency. Everyone’s involvement is key to achieving this ambitious target.
Join Cllr Jackie Hook and other speakers to find out how we can work together. Please bring your ideas. All welcome! Light refreshments. Parking available.
