The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) is a unique nationwide tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 which invites people from across the United Kingdom to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”. The Longdown and Holcombe Burnell Parish Council would like to hear from residents that would be keen to plant and nurture a tree in their garden or on their land, to create a living legacy to this special occasion, as well as to help tackle the climate and ecological emergencies.
It is hoped that these special trees will be supplied free of charge to residents of our parish and the species of tree has been selected to be a fairly compact growing tree, offer spring blossom, fruit for wildlife, beautiful autumn colours and grow well on clay soils.
